We are now on Pinterest!
The latest buzz in social media is all about Pinterest.  In case you're one of the few who hasn't heard, Pinterest is an online virtual pinboard for people to save various things they find online that inspire them by "pinning" them.  You might find something you like...a pair of shoes, a new phone, a recipe...and you can "pin it" to one of your "pinboards."  Pinterest is so big, that we have heard you can plan an entire wedding from Pinterest alone.  One of our boards is exclusively for our customer's products. If you have a cool product you'd like to see featured on our "Pinboard" feel free to let us know. Keep in mind that in order for something to be "pinnable," there must be an associated image somewhere on the Internet.  Just click on the red P Follow Me icon at the bottom of this newsletter to check it out!

Blog Highlight:  Three Questions You Should Ask an EDI Provider
Blog article discussing three important questions you should always ask before hiring an EDI provider.

Choosing an EDI provider is something you most likely will have to face at some point if you exchange business documents.  Your EDI provider is responsible for a critical function of your business.  It's important to ensure that you have a level of trust indicative of that significance.  Before hiring an EDI provider, there are three big questions you should ask:

1. Who do I contact for support?

Technical Terminology Time
AS2 (Applicability Statement 2) - Wikipiedia defines AS2 as “specification about how to transport data securely and reliably over the internet.”  By using digital certificates and encryption, both sender and recipient can ensure the information is secure.  Furthermore, conducting your EDI communication with your trading partner via AS2 creates a “point to point” connection, which is sometimes required by retailers.  In fact, AS2 has almost become synonymous with Wal-Mart.  One of the biggest benefits of AS2 is that for companies that have large amounts of data being transmitted to a small number of trading partners, AS2 as a VAN alternative is often more cost effective than a traditional VAN. Some EDI software packages even include AS2, such as  Liaison Technologies ECS .  In those cases, the AS2 can even be used to transmit data TO a traditional VAN if needed.
