Welcome Note
Welcome to the fourth edition of the Aurora EDI Alliance Press.  The Aurora EDI Alliance Press is a quarterly newsletter dedicated to current issues, events and newsworthy items surrounding both EDI technology and the Aurora EDI Alliance. The Aurora EDI Alliance is a tightly knit group of U.S. companies specializing in the implementation and maintenance of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) in a variety of industries. We are recognized experts in EDI, and can also provide consulting, system analysis, design, development and training services as well.

Aurora Aquires New Customers
Aurora Technologies was given the opportunity to aquire 25 new customers from DataTrans Solutions, Inc. and wasted no time.  These are customers who use products from Liaison Technologies that Aurora specializes in.  It was a win for all involved!  For the last couple of weeks, Faith Lamprey, Aurora President, has been busy introducing herself and Aurora's services to these companies.  Aurora will continue to provide the stellar service and expertise these folks received from DataTrans.  

Blog Highlight: Web EDI in a Mobile World

Can you manage your EDI solution with your iPhone from the Starbucks patio?  Mobile device EDI?  Absolutely.  Web EDI, managed services, EDI in the cloud, SaaS (software as a service) and other EDI outsourcing solutions are more.

Hubspot Convention
Aurora EDI Alliance Press  In late August, Faith Lamprey and Shandra Locken of Aurora Technologies attended the Hubspot marketing conference Inbound 2012 held in Boston. It was an event full of useful information and heart felt keynote speeches from the likes of Gary Vaynerchuk and David Meerman Scott. And Cyndi Lauper rocked the house with tunes from her new blues themed album. The whole event was quite a "hoot" as you can see from the picture of Shandra with the HootSuite Social Media Management mascot.
Customer Spotlight
This time our Customer Spotlight shines on Thymes, a bath & body and home fragrance company based out of Minneapolis.  Thymes began as a line of soaps and bath salts and over 30 years later has evolved into the largest fragrance brand in the US specialty market.  Thymes' products, botanically-based and nature inspired, can be found in boutiques and specialty stores all over the US and Canada with limited distribution worldwide.  You can find them on Facebook as well as follow them on Pinterest.  Also, feel free to check out their blogwhere you can get the scoop on the latest product lines!  

New Project

Big congratulations to Aurora Technologies are in order!  Many of you know that Aurora's Easy Trade service is the recommended EDI solution for CVS Pharmacy/Caremark suppliers.  Word has gotten out that we are providing an affordable service that even the most techno-inexperienced can use!  We have secured a large Hub & Spoke project where we will be bringing suppliers of a large paper goods distributor into EDI production using Easy Trade.  This is a fantastic project that will keep the Aurora team busy for months to come.

Technical Terminology Time
Kilocharacter (KC) - For our purposes, Kilocharacter is the term used to measure the size of an EDI document and/or transaction.  Value Added Networks (VANs) commonly use KCs to bill their customers for usage.  The term Kilocharacter or KC specifically refers to 1,000 characters, a character being anything such as a letter, number or symbol.  For reference, the average Invoice (EDI 810) is about 1 KC.
