EDI for Grocery
EDI for food producers and manufacturers is serious business. Orders are time critical and retail grocery chains make for demanding customers. They expect the highest standards at the lowest possible cost and reliability is king.
For many large independent food producers and distributors we have designed, implemented and supported grocery EDI and bar coding systems utilizing the Liaison Technologies’ Delta and ECS (e-Commerce Communications Server) EDI software. We have interfaced with major grocery chains including Wal-Mart/Sam's Club (using AS/2 EDI-INT Internet communications), Kroger/Ralphs/Fred Meyer/Smiths/etc., Albertsons, Safeway/Vons, and many more.
Distributors typically receive grocery purchase orders (EDI 875). Once an order is picked and ready to be shipped, barcodes are produced for the cartons or pallets and Advance Shipment Notifications (EDI 856) that interface directly with order/production database systems are sent. The ASN is followed by an invoice (EDI 880) to the retailer. EFT payment remittance information (EDI 820) is sent from the retailer to the distributor to confirm payment. The Delta and ECS EDI software enable systems to reliably keep the supply chain moving.
